    I hope the national press has the respect to cover his funeral which should be at Arlington.

    Been there. Every American should go once in their life-time.

    Although I doubt you will get anywhere near the place when they inter him.

    I'm using LR3 on a SR Macbook Pro 2.2 with 4GB RAM (2007 version,) and it is really very acceptable. I am processing files from my D300, so they're a bit smaller than yours, and I can't compare my experience to your Macbook, but you should have no problem running LR on any newer Macbook Pro, probably even the Air, as long as you have enough RAM. The issue for me would be screen size, and the 15.4" screen seems just about right for laptop use where it doesn't seem too crowded. The one thing that seems to take a bit of processing power is when importing images, even just adding them to the library without copying them, because LR renders thumbnails of each image. This seems to put a bit of a load on processing if there are a few hundred of them. Another thing that can eat processor cycles is exporting slideshows w/music into video... but that's probably not exclusively a LR issue.

    Interesting update, for those that care/may be wondering. As a test, I grabbed a 2 GB Ram stick from my laptop and placed it in one of the free slots on my iMac. Computer now reports 6 GB RAM installed, but the 2 x 2GB already installed now underclock to 1067. It seems that Ram will always run as fast as the slowest installed. Still, 6 GB @ 1067 has to be better than 4 GB @ 1333, right?

    I'm curious about this question too... I have the same situation but I have 8gb of RAM... what's better to have 8gb at 1067 or 4gb at 1333?

    Perhaps check the return value of your system calls?

    int system(const char *command);

    The system() function returns the exit status of the shell as returned by waitpid(2), or -1 if an error occurred when invoking fork(2) or waitpid(2). A return value of 127 means the execution of the shell failed.

    HI everyone, First I want to thanks all the help in here to solve my previous problem:)! It mains a lot to me!;)

    Now, I would like to use the preivous program to build a static library and try to test it.

    When I finish build the library and apply it for test, there are run times error occured:

    1>fortest.obj : error LNK2019: unresolved external symbol "public: void __thiscall login::find(void)" (?find@login@@QAEXXZ) referenced in function _main

    There are four of them and I know they are the same things.

    I do not know how to fix them....:(

    The code:

    The header file is :

    #include <fstream>
    #include <string>

    class login
    {
    public:
    void setuser();

    void write();

    void read();

    void find();

    private:
    char inputusername[99];
    };

    The code file is :

    void find()

    {
    ifstream file;
    file.open("file.txt");

    string input=inputusername;
    string input_line;
    bool found = false;

    while( file >> input_line ) {

    Why not just leave them, since they're not hurting anything by being there. I'm sure if you did enough research, you could find the purpose for each file, but why waste the time?

    Wow, you are such a great help. Thank you so much...

    Seriously though, why even bother helping if you have nothing to contribute?

    I'd have to say Adobe, because they make Photoshop. The truly most versatile piece of software.

    that's strange. I have a dual 1.8 G5 and that delivers about 200 points per day easy (both procs together), when it's folding 24/7. I have a 2.0 P4 at work and that's doing a bit less then 1 1.8 G5. So, with your setup:
    dual 2.4 = 200 points
    3.6 Xeon = 150 points.

    But you probably don't have a dual script installed on the dual 2.4? And does these computers have hypertrading?? If so, then folding only uses 50% of your computing power.

    a friend asked me to post this.

    What he needs to do is have photoshop open up a text file that contains lines of file names, eg 2039-299434322.jpeg and have it create and save dummy files out of those filenames in a certain folder.
    From what i gathered the purpose is to have the files ready so he can then find the ones he wants to put stuff into and edit them.
    He wants to script this because there will be lots of files to create.

    Any thoughts/ideas?

    I just can't understand why they can't sell things separately and then give you a discount when you buy the two things together (since that's basically what they're doing with Kinect bundles and game bundles).

    -Don

    Because they make more money selling bundles than standalone systems, pretty much. It's just marketing. It's like fast food restaurants making you want the meal deals instead of just the sandwich. They make the most money off the soft drinks and the fries. Same thing applies here. Sucks, but what can you do...

    Bah, I just finished the extended hardware test, and after around 40 minutes, it finished with no errors. I'm back in OS X now, but I'm using my lappy for the time being, I'm gonna let it finish updating everything.

    Also, I checked inside, and everything looks secure.

    I second that. And my car.

    Snow and ice together...Last night ride was a fun ride (once I got at my parents' place), though terrible (when I was behind the wheel) :)

    Had to get a snow type truck to get me out of the snow, or that'd have been a stuck-in-the-snow-in-my-car type of Xmas eve.

    Holy crap! Welcome back! Where the hell have you been, man? We missed you!

    EDIT- Oh, and thanks for the support. :)

    Thanks!

    Been? Running around trying to get people to be a bit more . . . reasonable. Some successes, some failures.

    And you're welcome re support! I just wish it were not an issue . . .

    How has it been here? I think it was just short of 3 years.

    Thanks for the response,

    In all honestly that's something I'm not 100 percent sure on. The guy that had the phone before me knows nothing other than how to use it and as its always been in dfu I havemt been able to check. However as I have jailbroke with redsn0w on cust firmwar 4.2 I would assume its been updated to the ipad baseband? Although as it reverts back to dfu I can't even be sure the jailbreak has been succesful....

    Rather puzzled by it to say the least. I've done some reading on using iRecovery so going to try that later on and see how it goes- I'm ocd when it comes to fixing stuff like this so really don't want to call it quits!!

    Do you think the baseband would have an effect on it failing restores?

    iMacs have never had HDMI ports.

    you just need the right adapter: http://www.monoprice.com/products/product.asp?c_id=104&cp_id=10428&cs_id=1042802&p_id=5311&seq=1&format=2
